Rare Dutch Antique Violin by Ian Boumeester 1662Ian Boumeester was a great Dutch master violin maker. He was born at Quackenbruck, Germany in 1629. He was working in Amsterdam asindicated on the original label, inside the violin, me fecit in Amsterdam, anno1662. He died in 1681. He is considered one of the important representatives of the Dutch Schoolof fine violin makers. Some of his instruments resemble those of Amati andPeter Guarnerius, others have considerable individuality. This violin is personal with a strong style that is easy to identify. It is an exceptional piece of the makers work in a fine, fully restored condition ready to make beautiful sweet and mellow music. This violin has been certified and completely gone over by a renowned Philadelphia violin maker. I paid over $1,200.00 to have the table removed cracks in the table re-glued and reinforced with cleats, other old cracks re-glued and re-cleated as necessary, re-glued table to body raising angle of neck fitted with new post, bridge and strings touched up varnish cleaned, polished and adjusted instrumentmeasurements:o bodylength 35 cmo U.B. 16.2 cmo M.B. 11.3 cm o L.B. 19.9 cm I have owned this violin for over 50 years. I have made wonderful music with it as a professional violinist for a number of years. I am now retired and looking to pass this wonderful violin on to someone else wanting to make beautiful music.
